TOTAW Launches Spring Drive
Theatre of the American West in Republican City is launching a spring campaign as well as a greatly expanded TOTAW.org, to kick off its 2008 shows. The 2008 Schedule in Republican City is now firmly set, and it is hoped this spring drive will increase attendance, sponsorship, and volunteerism at the Theatre. Season details are available at www.totaw.org/2008season.html. The season opens on March 15 with the Theatre's spoof of the Bard in The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield. Kris Davies is directing Ryan Brehmer, Dustin Witte, and Ryan Hruza. According to the Reduced Shakespeare Company's webpage, www.reducedshakespeare.com/shakespeare.php, the show is London's longest-running comedy. The Today Show quipped, "If you like Shakespeare, you'll like this show. If you hate Shakespeare, you'll LOVE this show."
The rest of the season includes ten additional titles including TOTAW's own musical adaptation of Dicken's classic A Christmas Carol. TOTAW Season Cards are valid for admission to all Performances in Republican City except A Christmas Carol due to the lavish costumes and scenery planned for the show, which the Theatre says will be an annual event. Two more annual events to kick off this year include a Young Actors' Workshop July 11-12 and the Great Republican River Playwrights' Festival July 12-13. Both programs will try to invest in the future of TOTAW in particular, but the theatre in general, by nourishing young theatre artists and playwrights. Students and scripts are being sought far and wide.
To publicize these two programs, the Theater has Luke Leibbrandt stepping further onboard as Sales Manager, a full time TOTAW front man. Luke will also be managing the Spring Campaign, renewing and building on relationships with the Theatre's existing patrons and partners and expanding the theatre's reach to new and larger audiences. School and Group tours will be another major focus for 2008. With so many events, from Young Actors to Scrooge, on the calendar, the Theatre requests patrons email or call in advance for confirmation and reservations.
Auditions for Call of the Woods, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Pippin will be open to the public and are scheduled for Saturday, April 12, at 3:00 p.m. Auditions will also be held for the remaining shows later in 2008. All ages and experience levels are encouraged to participate.
